Monsters Inc.: When Toy Story 3 finally comes and goes, we’ll still have another Pixar sequel to look forward to. Disney has just announced that a follow to 2001’s Monsters Inc. is in the works. The feature will premiere on Nov. 16, 2012.

Wanted: Kristen Stewart as a replacement…for Angelina Jolie? The forces behind Wanted 2 are reportedly eyeing the Twilight star for a role in the sequel. (Although they had hoped to bring back Jolie, she has already opted out.) Director Timur Bekmambetov is considering casting Stewart as a “young, ass-kicking assassin in the Fraternity.”

Sequel News: Austin Powers, Final Destination and More


Austin Powers: The Shrek films may be coming to an end, but that doesn’t mean Mike Myers can’t tread into familiar territory. According to director Jay Roach, it’s quite possible we’ll be seeing another Austin Powers film. “You know, I hope so,” Roach said when asked about a sequel. “Mike’s working on ideas for it, people are definitely talking about it and I’m always good for it. I love those characters.”

Meryl Streep Unaware of Mamma Mia Sequel

Meryl Streep in Mamma Mia! is clueless about the Mamma Mia! 2 rumors.

The Oscar-winning actress - who appeared in the film version of the ABBA-inspired musical !’ in which she played the lead role of Donna Sheridan - insists she hasn’t been approached by film bosses about appearing in the rumored sequel, but isn’t concerned because she’s enjoying a break from acting.

“I heard that they were talking about it, but I am not sure it’s real, it’s not anything I’m on the inside track of. No one has told me anything yet. I try to live right now anyway. And right now I feel the need to stop for a moment and breathe because I’ve worked very hard in the last two and a half years, seven films - it’s a more than I’ve ever done.”

Meryl recently spoke about how she was just happy to be alive, well and working: “I’m very f***ing grateful. I have so many friends who are sick or gone, and I’m here. It’s incredible - I’m 60, and I’m playing the romantic lead in romantic comedies! I’ve been given great, weird, interesting parts well past my sell-by date. I remember saying to my husband when I was 38, ‘Well, it’s over.’ And then we kicked the can down the road a little further.”


Harrison Ford Ready for Indiana 5

Harrison Ford in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal SkullNot even age can get an actor down: is ready for another Indiana Jones movie.

The screen legend, who has played the titular adventuring archaeologist in the four previous films in the franchise, said he is keen to make a fifth film, and creator is already working on ideas.

Harrison, who also starred in the original trilogy, said, “I’d love to do it. George Lucas is working on an idea and if he can come up with something, Steven Spielberg and I have to agree to go ahead with it. If we find another story to do and we develop the character a little further and I get a chance to do another one, I’d be happy as pie to do it. I don’t think there’s any other franchise films that I’d want to go back to.”

The 67-year-old star particularly wants to deepen the relationship between archaeologist Indy and his son Mutt Williams, played by in 2008’s Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Matthew Broderick, John Hughes Intended to Make Bueller Sequel

John Hughes and Matthew Broderick back in the day! wanted to make a follow up to Ferris Bueller’s Day Off.

The actor - who is married to Sex and the City actress - discussed the possibility of a sequel to the 1986 movie with the film’s director John Hughes, but nothing really came of it.

“It’s something we talked about - catching up with Ferris as an adult and seeing how he turned out. We never quite got it together though. I’m still not sure what Ferris would be up to now. I wish John was around because he might have a good idea. I think he would maybe be living in a rick house near where he grew up. I bet he would be exactly like his parents.”

Matthew, 47, recently revealed he found it hard to escape from playing Ferris Bueller: “For a while, it made me uncomfortable. It sometimes surprises me that that’s the only movie anybody seems to know I did.”


Sequel News: Twister, G.I. Joe and More


Twister: Actor Bill Paxton recently expressed interest in doing another Twister film. Question is: is anyone else interested? (Aside from the Balloon Boy family?) Bill believes 3-D technology and a history angle could bring added elements to the disaster story. “I think you’d still want to have a lot of the dark humor and all of that, with the flying cows and everything. I think you could kind of intrigue people more by getting into a little more of the lore and really understanding. I just think there’s a lot more to explore there,” Paxton said.
